You Make Sense. Your Patterns Do Too

You Make Sense. Your Patterns Do TooYou Make Sense. Your Patterns Do TooYou Make Sense. Your Patterns Do Too

Getting Started

You don’t need to have it figured out before you reach out. Most people who contact me are somewhere between ‘I’ve been thinking about this for a while’ and ‘I’m not even sure what to say.’ Both are fine starting points.

This page will walk you through what to expect, help you decide whether this is a good fit

What Getting Started Looks Like

You Don’t Have to Have the Perfect Words

Many people feel unsure about how to begin or worry about saying the ‘right’ thing. You don’t need a clear diagnosis, a polished explanation, or a detailed plan. The first step is a brief consultation — a low-pressure conversation about what’s been happening, what feels stuck, and what you’re hoping might change.

Individual therapy here is about learning more about yourself. That often includes moments of discomfort, and that’s okay. Discomfort isn’t a sign something is wrong — it’s often part of understanding ourselves more clearly.

What the Consultation is (and isn’t)

The consultation is a 15-minute conversation, not a therapy session and not an intake. We’ll discuss what led you to reach out, what you’re hoping for, and how you typically respond when things feel difficult or slow. I’ll share how I work and what the process usually asks of people. There’s no obligation to continue. The purpose is simple: to decide whether this approach and this working relationship feel like a good fit.

There’s no sales pitch and no pressure. If it’s not the right match, I’ll do my best to point you toward someone who is.

Before You Schedule

Take a minute to read through these. They'll help you decide whether this is a good next step — and if it's not, that's useful to know now rather than after a call.

Where do you offer therapy? Telehealth in Florida, California, and any PSYPACT-participating state. In-person sessions are also available by appointment at my home office in Milton, FL. If you're outside these areas, I likely can't be your therapist, but I'm happy to point you toward PSYPACT's directory or another resource.

Do you take insurance? I'm private pay. I accept HSA and FSA cards directly, the same as a regular debit or credit card. I also provide a superbill so you can seek out-of-network reimbursement — just know that filing with insurance, even for reimbursement, means a diagnosis and clinical information are shared with your insurer, which affects your privacy. If in-network coverage is a priority for you, this may not be the right fit, and I'm glad to help you think through alternatives.

What does it cost? See the Pricing page for current rates. If cost is a significant barrier, it's worth knowing that before scheduling so we don't start something that isn't sustainable for you.

Is this the right place if I'm in crisis right now? No — and this is important. I'm not equipped to provide emergency or crisis care. If you're in crisis, please call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room. Once you're safely connected to that kind of support, I'm happy to talk about ongoing care.

Who do you typically work with? I provide individual therapy only — I don't offer couples or family sessions. I work with adults 18 and older. My practice tends to be the strongest fit for people in their 30s, 40s, and beyond — those carrying the weight of accumulated patterns and real-life responsibilities. My clients are often professionals, leaders, caregivers, executives, athletes, and people of faith who feel stuck in patterns around stress, burnout, relationships, anxiety, or life transitions. If you're looking for couples therapy or a therapist who works with younger adults or adolescents, I'm glad to point you toward someone better suited for that. See the Colleagues & Allies page.

What does a good working relationship with you look like? I keep a fairly clear structure around sessions and communication, because that consistency is part of what makes the work feel safe and predictable. My role is to help create a space where we can understand what's happening in your life and build new ways of responding — I'm not here to take over your decisions, but I'll walk alongside you while we figure things out. This works best for people who are ready to bring their own effort and engagement to the process.

Is faith part of the work? Only if you want it to be. I offer faith-integrated therapy for clients who want to explore the connection between their psychological and spiritual life, but it's never required.

What's your approach? Direct, evidence-based, and focused on patterns rather than just symptoms. I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic theory, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing.

How available are you between sessions? I work in a way that's similar to concierge care. Between-session communication happens through HIPAA-compliant secure messaging, so your privacy is protected. I'm generally reachable 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and if something comes up, let me know and I'll find a way to help, even in the evening after my regular schedule.

A Few Questions Worth Asking Yourself

This isn’t a test — it’s a way to check whether what I offer matches what you’re looking for right now.

Am I more interested in understanding the patterns underneath what I’m dealing with, or do I mainly want tools to manage symptoms day to day?

Am I willing to look at my own part in what’s been happening, even when that’s uncomfortable?

Can I work with a therapist who keeps fairly consistent structure — set session times, clear communication norms — even if that sometimes means waiting for our next session rather than reaching out right away?

If something feels too intense, can I tell my therapist that and trust we’ll slow down together, rather than needing to push through?

Do I want faith to be part of these conversations, or would I rather keep that separate? (Either is fine — it just helps to know what you want.)

Am I in a place where I can show up and engage in this work right now, or do I need something more intensive first?

If most of these sound like a yes — or at least a ‘yes, and I’d like help getting there’ — this is probably a good fit. If several give you pause, that’s worth paying attention to. It doesn’t mean something’s wrong with you. It just means a different kind of support might serve you better right now.

If after reading this it doesn’t sound like a fit — that’s okay, and it’s exactly why this section exists. See the Colleagues & Allies page for trusted referrals.
